Adobe Acrobat Xi Review: Acrobat Xi Performs Some Clever New Tricks
We have an issue with incorrect page size in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. It is installed in our Citrix environment on Windows 2008 R2 terminal servers.
By default, the page size in Adobe Acrobat and in Adobe PDF printer is set to “letter” and we need to change it to “A4”.
Where are these settings stored and how can I change them? Is it a registry key or something else?
I found that to change the page size for Adobe Acrobat the template files “.joboptions” can be edited under “C:ProgramDataAdobeAdobe PDFSettings”. Is this the only way to do it?

I exported the correct Adobe PDF printer settings with rundll32.exe, PrintUIEntry… and imported it to all servers with PsExec.
As I described above, we have a corporate environment. We cannot manually change these settings on all servers.
Go to printers, right click and select “printer properties” (4th option.) On the right hand side of this screen the available paper (“beschikbaar papier”) only had one option and that was “letter”. Now it is A4.

Make sure that “Only One” is selected in the list of available paper sizes, A4.
The settings under Job Options only apply when the cleaned PostScript does not have a page size. PDF printer outputs always have a page size. So these job options are never affected. They are very specialist / legacy environments.
Other settings are part of the printer settings. They are stored somewhere by Windows. The location and registry key are variable as part of how Windows stores device-specific settings. You set them in the printer preferences. Direct registry changes usually don’t work because they are cached. If Microsoft does not provide deployment tools for driver options, you must configure them manually. Using Acrobat XI Pro, you can automate multi-step tasks using actions. An action is a set of steps that can be performed automatically by Acrobat to save time and streamline your workflow. When you use an action in Acrobat, some steps in the action can be completed entirely by the Acrobat software, while other steps require user input.

To use an action in Acrobat XI Pro, first open the PDF in Acrobat where you want to perform the action. Then display the action wizard panel. Then click on the name of the action you want to perform on the PDF. When you click an action, the action steps replace the Toolbar. The action panel displays the file or files being processed at the top of the panel followed by individual action steps. You should take the time to consider the action steps. When you’re ready to begin, click the “Start” button. The “Start” button becomes a “Stop” button, which you can press at any time to stop the action before it is finished, if necessary.

When an action is executed, the steps are highlighted in the action bar, and the action continues until a step requires user input. Some steps require values to be selected or data to be entered into a dialog box. Follow the steps until the “Stop” button is replaced with the word “Done”. You can then click the Close button that appears above the Toolbar on the Taskbar to close the panel and return to the default view of the Toolbar.
