We Need Help With Christmas

We Need Help With Christmas – Thanks to everyone who came over the weekend to celebrate with us at our pre-Christmas parties in Glasgow and Edinburgh! We really enjoyed Deck the Halls with Owen and Olly, and it’s great to hear you enjoyed it too! We’ve had a few requests about the 12 Last Tunes of Christmas (we included 12 of the best carols of the season into the 12 Days of Christmas Carols, with action (with permission and legal -written by Owen and Olly!) so we thought we’d help you remember them all (A downloadable PDF is available here) It would make a great after-dinner game on Christmas – get the whole family together and make those mince pies! Email ccc@ or post it on Facebook!

Christmas Festival Volunteers — Cornerstone Church

Maybe this Christmas what you’re looking for most is community connection. We invite you to attend a Salvation Army Christmas carol service, Christmas Day service or other event near you.

We understand that the rising cost of living is putting pressure on individuals and families every day across Australia. The added stress of the Christmas season buying presents or wanting to prepare a good meal for the family can seem overwhelming. If this is your situation, the Australian Salvation Army is here to help.

Our friendly and compassionate staff is ready to listen to you and have a confidential and non-judgmental conversation about your concerns. Please contact us by contacting your local Salvo below. Ask if we can help you with vouchers, food or toys for Christmas, or someone to talk to or pray with. We expect the coming weeks to be very busy at our food bank. This Christmas, your gift can make a big difference to local families and individuals affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Food Bank is very grateful to local residents, schools, churches and businesses who contact us to find out the best ways to donate to help local people in difficult situations during the winter and at Christmas.

The generosity of many people to donate extra food has filled our warehouse to overflowing and we are working hard to operate safely. We want to suggest other ways to support us that will help with immediate space issues and ensure we can continue to support the community well into the New Year. It would be very helpful if you could donate in one of these two main Christmas ways please:

This Christmas, Please Help Us Combat Food Poverty In As Many Communities As We Can

Your gift through Bankuet, earmarked for Foodbank, will allow us to order the food we need for people, when we need it – and Bankuet will deliver it directly to us. You can also add Gift Aid when you donate, if you can.

Any monetary gift you give will be used where it is most needed as we help local communities this winter and beyond. You can make a single or regular gift and add Gift Aid if you can. As we welcome Christmas here at ASD, we wish you and your family the same excitement and joy that we experience at this time of year. Christmas is a time for giving and we would like to say a huge thank you for being our valued customers. We hope you have a well-deserved break this Christmas and our best wishes for a great holiday season!

We couldn’t think of a more fitting name for a group of special people who are more dedicated to their profession than all of Santa’s elves combined. Grief professionals are busy year-round, but during the holiday season, the bereavement rate increases along with emotional reactions from grieving relatives. Funeral directors have many additional responsibilities this time of year and even less time than usual to complete the job. Despite these challenges, many go above and beyond to make the holidays good for those in their community.

We Need Help With Christmas

There are many different ways a funeral home can offer their support to others during the holidays. Sending a heartfelt letter can help bereaved family members feel less alone in their grief. Displaying colorful decorations and twinkling lights will remind families that the funeral home is a welcoming place they can visit when they need help and a friendly chat. Hosting a fun holiday event, concert or an invitation to Santa Claus for a visit keeps the public mingling at the funeral home, which creates a positive social environment where families can feel comfortable ‘ sharing stories and reflecting on the past. For some funeral homes, Christmas is a time to encourage generosity within the community by encouraging others to donate to a worthy cause or participate in a charity event.

Joy To You & Yours This Christmas Season

For decades, funeral homes have held holiday memorial services inviting families who lost a loved one in the past year to join.
