Update Xiaomi Redmi 10 S Review – The Redmi S series debuted in 2020 with the Redmi Note 9s. The Redmi Note 10s is a phone between the Redmi Note 10 and the Redmi Note 10 Pro. The Redmi Note 10s should be seen as a phone that inherits the look (size/weight) of the Redmi Note 10, with more power and a better camera. As such, it’s a good-value mid-range phone. Sometimes it’s the details that set it apart from the other two models. [b][b] Xiaomi has so many models that it is sometimes difficult to choose. So I’m going to try to highlight the things you might be interested in about this phone. Xiaomi has never really been a big winner, their phones are always good at one thing and not so good at others, so the choice should be based on what’s important to you. For example, if photos are your go-to, I’d say the Redmi Note 10s should be the best option, but I can only confirm after doing this test. I have a script that runs 24 hours a day to find the right price. I see that Xiaomi will launch Redmi Note 10s, but I don’t care too much because I have bought a lot of Xiaomi this year. I do my test alone and I have to make a decision. I changed my mind when I was notified of the Redmi Note 10s and its nearly 150 euro launch offer. The first configuration of the Redmi Note 10s was the first phone I tested with MIUI 12.5 installed by default. I have never tested this version of MIUI on other phones. Has it changed anything? yes and no. The graphical interface of the phone configuration is different, the screen has been redesigned, there is more space for illustrations, and the interface is generally more transparent. The configuration steps have not changed, and the MIUI screen has been redesigned to make the screen distinction imposed by Xiaomi and Google more pronounced. [b][b] So the improvements are mostly cosmetic, my previous comments are still fully valid, especially Xiaomi’s desire to impose its cloud and apps is constant at Xiaomi.

I bought the 6Gb/64Gb version, you can find all the technical features of the phone in the screenshots below. Some models feature Snapdragon processors, while others feature Mediatek processors. What will happen to consumers? Not much, as these processors offer more or less the same performance, sometimes just pure performance differences, and sometimes better power management. The most obvious difference between the two processor families is the accuracy of the GPS, I have never gotten below 3 meters with the Snapdragon and 1 meter with the MediaTek. The Redmi Note 10s has a MediaTek processor, so I would expect better GPS performance than the Redmi Note 10 Pro. [b][b] For the graphics part we find the same two GPU series, Qualcomm Adreno on the one hand and ARM Mali on the other, the Redmi Note 10s uses the ARM Mali G76 that we also find in other products. Huawei P30, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Realme 6 and other mobile phones. So it’s not the latest generation GPU, but offers a good level of performance for most users. [b]Antutu/3DMark benchmark I got over 276,000 points with Antutu, this score is provided by Redmi Note 10s above Redmi Note 10 and below Redmi Note 10 Pro. The Redmi Note 9T and Samsung Galaxy A52 are examples of other phones with very similar performance. [b][b] With such a high score, the 10s Redmi Note will give you a comfortable daily experience, and you can even play most games without making too many sacrifices on the graphics level. Only a more greedy game like Fortnite gets less fluid.

The game is very challenging and allows you to highlight the performance of your phone. [b] Network performance The Redmi Note 10s is not 5G compatible, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a 5G version comes out later this year. For 3G/4G frequencies, the Redmi Note 10s offers good frequency coverage, allowing you to use it anywhere in Europe. The ability of a 4G signal (prior to December 2020) to properly pick up the network is an essential feature of a phone, but it is rarely measured. To gauge the phone’s ability to recover from the network, I did a lot of measurements on the same battery to be able to compare phones in similar conditions. Signals are measured in dBm, and a value of -90dBm represents a worse signal than -70dBm. [b][b]Signal 4G (from December 2020)[b]I decided to change the method of measuring the network because I noticed that the configuration of the cellular network changes over time. This makes it more difficult to compare phones because the conditions are no longer exactly the same. [b][b] To overcome this, I set up a device that collects about ten cellular network parameters (eg: cell id, rssi, rsrq, snr, frequency…) 24 hours a day. I then left the phone next to the device for 24 to 48 hours and took the same measurements for comparison.
