Update Xiaomi 3 Network Review – The Poco M4 5G runs Android 12 with MIUI 13 on top. This is a fairly new set to own, which is appreciated.
Anyway, the new MIUI 13 promises improvements under the hood like better RAM, CPU utilization and more efficient storage usage. Overall, the look hasn’t changed and previous MIUI users will feel right at home.

The switch between notification shade and Control Center is enabled automatically this time around, and that’s probably a good thing. We found it very comfortable and it is a way to educate users about MIUI’s unique approach to UI. And if you’re not a fan, you can always go back to your regular notification shade with a quick toggle in one place.

The home screen, recent apps, and general settings menu work as usual. The app drawer is also enabled by default, and we like that Xiaomi has placed a search bar at the bottom of the screen for easier access. There are custom app categories and presets for faster navigation.
Unlike the standard recent apps menu, MIUI lists apps in a vertical arrangement and offers several useful shortcuts.
That’s where you can open the app in a floating window. However, you can only open one at a time.
The sidebar shortcut menu is missing on the Poco M4 5G. Since there’s no easy way to launch floating windows for apps, you’ll have to do it with a quick switch in the control center on the M4 5G. This isn’t too much of a hassle and the floating windows themselves work the same way with the predefined areas they can enter and their size.
Xiaomi Redmi 10c Review
Customization, as always, is a big part of MIUI. Since the Poco M4 5G lacks an OLED panel and an under-display fingerprint reader, the fingerprint animation and always-on screen animation adjustment menu is missing. You can still create device themes. Apart from the themes that are pre-installed on the device, the theme store gives you a lot of options. The theme itself changes not only the general appearance, but also the ringtones and system icons.
Continuing privacy and security, MIUI has come with pre-installed system security apps. Apart from the added layer of anti-malware protection it provides, this app has a lot of app settings and privacy features in one place. It can manage your blacklist, control or limit your data usage, adjust battery behavior and free up RAM. It can also control the permissions of your installed apps, determine the battery behavior of selected apps, and apply restrictions to specific apps only.
Talking about security, we have already mentioned that the capacitive fingerprint reader on the Poco M4 5G is very fast and reliable. Unfortunately, in the absence of an in-screen fingerprint reader, the nice shortcut interface of the lock screen is also missing. You can still customize reader behavior and make it require keystrokes to work or not. By pressing the power button twice, you can also quickly launch the camera. And there is a dedicated lock screen panel with additional quick Mi device controls and a flashlight switch to work with. It appears when you swipe left on your phone’s lock screen.
Overall, MIUI 13 changed a bit during its 12th iteration, but remains as snappy and customizable as ever. The OS is still as colorful and cheerful as ever, with great attention to detail in things like animations and minor design elements. Everything looks sharp and flows well, even on simple hardware like the Poco M4 5G. MIUI 13 is one of the smoothest custom Android experiences to date, and even on the M4 5G, it feels responsive and snappy.
Xiaomi Mi Mix Review
Speaking of sensible UX, we should take a closer look at how the Poco M4 5G performs. One of the downsides compared to the Poco M4 Pro 5G is the switch to the Dimensity 700 chip – essentially MediaTek’s entry-level 5G offering. Despite that status, the Dimensity 700 is still a pretty decent modern chip. It’s built on the 7 nm N7 production node and includes a 2×2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 CPU configuration, as well as a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU – the same as the Dimensity 810 and Helio G96. The Poco M4 5G pairs that chip with 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB UFS 2.2 expandable storage or 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM. There’s also 2GB of virtual software RAM on top of that.
Without further ado, let’s get started with some CPU and GeekBench tests. Unsurprisingly, the Dimensity 700 performs well in its price range. It manages to outperform competing Qualcomm solutions like the Snapdragon 678 and 680, as well as most of the MediaTek Helio G-series chips.
The Helio G96 manages to compete with the Dimensity 700 and Poco M4 5G and even outperform them slightly in some multi-core workloads, but the latter still outperforms single-threaded workloads thanks to the higher 2.2GHz clock speed of its two Cortexes. -A76 CPU core.
AnTuTu is a much more complex benchmark with GPU tests that also take things like memory and storage into account. The Poco M4 5G also holds up in this category, though not the best of its Dimensity 700 counterparts.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Review
Moving on to GFXBench and graphics benchmarks, we have to talk about the MediaTek Helio G95. It is an older chip at this point but has a distinct GPU advantage over most of the competition as it has four Mali-G76 GPU cores. It’s a clear neck above the crowd when it comes to gaming performance.
Leaving the Helio G95 aside for a moment on the other side of the spectrum, we found that the Dimensity 700, Dimensity 810 and Helio G96 performed essentially the same in GPU tests and scored within the margin of error of each other. Another expected development as all three chips share the same dual-core Mali-G57 GPU configuration.
Having twice as many GPU cores is a boon for the G95 which also lowers the entire GPU test stack, with the fps delta numbers staying the same or, in some cases, even increasing when testing struggles.
3DMark has historically offered cleaner and clearer comparisons of graphics performance between devices by using off-screen rendering tests that don’t take screen resolution into account. The images that 3DMark paints are very consistent with all the observations we’ve made so far. Namely that the Dimensity 700 inside the Poco M4 5G is not as powerful as the Helio G95 and nearly the same as the Helio G96 and Dimensity 810. However, a look at the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G, and its Dimensity 720 chip shows that just one more additional Mali-G57 GPU core is enough. effectively achieve performance up to G95. The delta we are dealing with here is not very large or significant.
Xiaomi Mi Tv Stick Review: A Pocket Friendly Android Tv Box
Overall, the Poco M4 5G offers solid performance. The Dimensity 700 is a solid choice for the price. It’s well equipped and fairly comparable to chips like the Dimensity 810 and Helio G96. MIUI 13 runs smoothly and very fast. We never felt constrained by performance when using the phone. If you take a look at the Mi MIX 3 flagship along with the upcoming Honor View 20 and many other phones on the horizon, it seems that the love affair for screen hacks didn’t last long. end
At £499, the Mi MIX 3 is a flagship handset in every way, but will likely be considered a mid-ranger by many for its price. That’s not a bad thing, by the way – unless you want to shell out hundreds of pounds with no real benefit.
Update 1: Xiaomi has announced that the first 100 orders placed on January 16 will receive an additional £50 discount.
Update 2: Gareth Morris has tweeted that there is a way to enable VoLTE (4G calling) on the phone. This is done by entering *#*#86583#*#* in the dialer to disable carrier/network checking.
Best Xiaomi Phone 2022: Reviewed & Ranked
Having been released in overseas markets before the end of 2018, the Mi MIX 3 doesn’t come with Qualcomm’s latest chipset, but judging by (at the time this review was published) no Snapdragon 855 powered phones for sale, Xiaomi can still admit that. using current flagship chips.
Along with the Snapdragon 845 chipset comes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space (not expandable). High-end models with extra RAM and storage are available in some markets, but for now they can be purchased here in the UK.
In my opinion, 6GB RAM is enough for Android OS, and 128GB will be enough for most people who don’t store all their multimedia content on one device at once.
The main selling point of the Mi MIX 3 is of course the screen. The AMOLED display measures 6.39 inches and has slight bezels on each edge, which is slightly taller
