Best Tvs For 2022: Reviews And Buying Advice

65 inches is one of the most popular screen sizes for TVs. There are countless 65-inch TVs to choose from, but not all of them are worth buying. Fortunately, we’ve done most of the work so you don’t have to. We test the picture quality, review the design and test the features to determine the best TV. All you have to do is decide how much you want to spend: are you looking to shell out for the best 65-inch TV money can buy, or are you looking for a more budget-friendly option?

If you just want to get the best 65-inch 4K TV we’ve tested, check out the LG C2 (available on Amazon for $1,696.99). We love this OLED TV for its ultra-thin design, sensational contrast, and advanced gaming enhancements. However, while the C2 is one of the best TVs we’ve tested, you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to get a solid 65-inch 4K TV – there are plenty of cheaper options too.

The LG C2 OLED is the successor to our favorite TV of 2021, the LG C1. While not fundamentally different from the C1, the C2 nevertheless improves on the already excellent formula. This is our current pick for the best TVs you can buy right now.

The key component of this success formula is C2’s self-illuminating pixels. Unlike traditional LED TVs, OLED screens are able to adjust their brightness pixel by pixel, even turning the pixels off. This allows for perfect black levels, which is why OLED TVs display unparalleled contrast.

With all-black surfaces, the C2 offers an exceptionally bright display for its class. It’s a combination of LG’s evo OLED display technology, software and hardware enhancements that were only available on the company’s high-end gallery model last year. The OLED evo succeeds at what it sets out to do: improve color brightness and volume. In HDR, the TV is capable of producing highlights in the range of 700 to 800 nits and covers about 97% of the HDR (DCI-P3) color space. SDR content (like most cable broadcasts and streaming titles) also looks great on the C2, though not quite as brilliant.

Movie fans and A/V enthusiasts will appreciate the C2’s Dolby Vision support. If you’re a gamer, the C2 is one of the best TVs you can buy this year. All four inputs on the C2 are full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1, meaning they support 4K gaming at 120 hertz (Hz). The C2 supports Auto Low Latency (ALLM) and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), with AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync along for the ride. Like the C1, the C2 is equipped with LG’s Game Optimizer settings menu, which toggles the TV’s various VRR options, relays frame rate information, and allows for easy adjustments to the TV picture during gameplay.

It’s not a perfect TV. LG TVs have quietly stopped supporting DTS audio in 2020, so if you have Blu-rays with DTS soundtracks and plan to connect the Blu-ray player directly to the TV, then the DTS experience will not be received. LG’s smart platform webOS can also be a chore to use as it is full of sponsored content and often takes a while to browse. If you opt for the C2, we recommend pairing it with an external streaming device so you don’t just rely on the TV’s smart features.

The LG C2 is one of the best OLED TVs we’ve tested. It’s pricier than most TVs, but the price is justified by its world-class performance and impressive list of all-inclusive features.

The Best Tv For Ps5 And Xbox Series X In 2022

The A95K is Sony’s first attempt at a quantum dot-enhanced OLED TV, and the result is an absolutely mind-blowing experience. From a picture quality point of view, it’s the most beautiful TV we’ve ever seen. Sadly, it’s also one of the most expensive TVs we’ve ever seen, which will no doubt make it a tough sell for most buyers.

Like all OLED TVs, the A95K offers perfect black levels and the widest viewing angles money can buy. While lack of brightness has been an issue for OLED TVs in the past, it’s not a huge concern for the A95K; It’s one of the brightest OLEDs we’ve tested. As long as it’s not in direct sunlight, it’s bright enough to see both day and night.

Thanks in part to Sony’s quantum dot technology (dubbed Triluminos Color), the A95K’s colors are incredibly good. It covers an impressive 100% of the HDR (DCI-P3) color gamut, and its bold, brilliant colors show up in all types of content, whether it’s TV shows, movies, or games. Most impressive is the A95K’s ability to accurately render skin tones and subtle gradations – you’re unlikely to notice any color gamut, even during high-quality content.

The A95K’s smart Google-based platform is fast, flexible and relatively easy to use. It’s a great choice for daily streaming. And while the A95K doesn’t offer much gaming flexibility compared to some of its high-end competitors, you still get a decent amount of gaming support for high-end consoles. The TV’s two HDMI 2.1 inputs support 4K gaming at 120Hz (although one of those inputs also serves as the TV’s EARC-enabled port). The A95K also comes with variable refresh rate, low latency auto mode and G-Sync support.

Xiaomi Mi Qled Tv 4k Review: The Best Mi Tv, But Is It The Best At This Price?

Most people think of the A95K’s impressive price, but if you’re looking for the best image money can buy, look no further.

If you want to maximize your dollar, the Hisense U8H is one of the best choices of the year. It gives an amazing image and an amazing array of features for a surprisingly low price.

The U8H is a mini-LED TV with quantum dots, a set of hardware commonly found in high-end TVs. Impressively, the U8H’s local dimming performance compares favorably with its high-end competitors; Surprisingly, there is little light glow whenever bright picture elements meet a dark background. And, when it comes to shining, the U8H is no slouch either. Whether you’re watching SDR or HDR content, the U8H is bright enough for daytime viewing. We measured a peak brightness of around 1,700 nits for highlights in HDR, and in SDR the average image brightness tops out at 900 nits. This level of brightness is almost unheard of in this price range.

The colors on the U8H are also rich and vibrant, thanks to the TV’s use of quantum dots. Our lab tests revealed that the U8H covers an impressive 97% of the HDR color gamut (DCI-P3). In real-world terms, that means you can expect everything from SDR TV shows to HDR movies to look truly colorful.

Lg C2 Oled Tv Review: Premium Tv Sweet Spot

The U8H might not offer as many gaming as a high-end mini-LED TV like the Samsung QN90B, but given its price, high-end gaming is worth considering. You’re getting two HDMI 2.1 ports capable of 4K gaming at 120Hz, as well as variable refresh rate, low-latency auto mode, and FreeSync Premium Pro. If you’re hoping to use your next built-for-TV smart platform as your daily driver, the U8H has you covered too; Google TV is fast, easy to use and comes preloaded with your favorite apps.

There are some disadvantages worth mentioning. For one, the Hisense’s image processing isn’t as good as the Sony, Samsung and TCL’s, especially when it comes to upscaling sub-4K content. Off-axis viewing can also be difficult at times, as the U8H’s image quality starts to drop further as you move away from a vertical, overhead viewing position.

But for the money, few TVs this year offer that level of performance. There’s a lot more to love about U8H than just the nighttime pick. It’s a fantastic, high-value TV that most people will be happy to call their own.

If you’re looking for a top-of-the-line TV that combines advanced features with a powerfully bright picture, the Samsung QN90B is one of the year’s top picks.
