If the update reaches you, the new modes may not be available immediately. However, they say this is a mistake. In this case, resetting the settings in the camera app helps. This bug is believed to have already occurred in other mid-range models that received new camera features.

Samsung hasn’t done anything special with the packaging of its latest affordable offering. The packaging is neat and made of biodegradable material. Inside the box, Samsung has packed almost everything a new buyer needs. The contents of the Galaxy A50 box are as follows:
Samsung Galaxy A50 continues the tradition of the A series. The phone charges positively as soon as you take it out of the box. With a curved back panel and lightweight design, it feels great in your hands. The frame is dominated by a stunning nearly edge-to-edge display with a U-shaped notch at the top and a small chin at the bottom.
From the back, it reminds me of the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 with the 3D Glasstic back (as Samsung calls it). The back panel is made of glossy glass, but it is actually made of polycarbonate. Samsung skilfully narrows the edges for good ergonomics and comfortable one-handed operation.
The thin sidebar is also made of polycarbonate, and the volume and power controls are on the right edge, both of which provide nice tactile feedback. All ports and the speaker are located on the bottom edge, while the SIM tray is located in a slot on the left edge.

In terms of build quality, we didn’t see any flexing or creaking when we pressed the back with our thumbs. Overall, the Galaxy A50 is absolutely brilliant and solid.
In fact, the Galaxy A50’s display is the real star here. The phone has an Infinity-U SuperAMOLED screen that looks great. It has a Full HD+ resolution with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The screen is bright, vivid and seems well calibrated. With deep black tones and good viewing angles. Everything looks good on the screen, both indoors and outdoors.
The Galaxy A50 also has an in-display fingerprint sensor. Other than the Galaxy S10 series, this is the only Samsung phone to have an in-display fingerprint sensor at the time of writing. It’s an optical sensor, not an ultrasonic sensor like expensive Samsung phones.
Setting up the fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy A50 is a fairly simple process. It’s not as fast as the OnePlus 6T, but it’s still pretty solid.
Solved: Samsung Galaxy A50 Long Term Review
The Samsung Galaxy A50 is powered by the Exynos 9610 chipset. Samsung’s proprietary chip is based on the 10nm FinFET process and consists of eight cores divided into two quad-core clusters. While one cluster has Cortex-A73 cores running at 2.3GHz, the other cluster has all Cortex-A53 processors running at 1.7GHz. Paired with a Mali G72MP3 GPU, the chip meets your graphics needs. We have a Galaxy A50 test device with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
Software-wise, the Galaxy A50 features the new Samsung One user interface powered by Android Pie. The new interface is designed for the longer phones that we have now upgraded to. If you’ve used a Samsung phone before, you’ll notice that the interface has been completely redesigned. It’s easier to use with one hand, has colorful iconography and sophisticated animations.
Samsung has also added a “night mode” which certainly looks great on an AMOLED panel. It has both an on-screen navigation button and full-screen gestures. Unlike the Galaxy S10 series, it does not have a Bixby button. However, if you use Bixby a lot, you can set the power button as a Bixby key. The new interface also saves resources. Samsung has also integrated the “lock screen stories” we’ve seen on the Galaxy M series phones.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy A50 with Exynos 9610 processor is stable and fast in daily use. Our Galaxy A50 had 4GB of RAM and we experienced a slight drop in frame rate when playing PUBG on high settings. The game ran perfectly with “balanced” graphics at a medium frame rate.

If you want to know how powerful the Exynos 9610 is, we’d say it’s one step below the Snapdragon 660, which is good enough for our use.
Unlike most other phones we’ve come across in this price segment, the Galaxy A50’s RAM management is well optimized and can keep multiple apps running in the background.
The Galaxy A50 boasts a triple camera system as one of its key features. Samsung has again opted for a 25MP primary sensor (f/1.7 aperture) paired with a 5MP sensor (f/2.2 aperture) and an 8MP wide-angle sensor (f/2.2 aperture). For selfie lovers, there is a 25-megapixel camera (f/2.0 aperture) located directly in the U-shaped notch.
Galaxy A50 camera app offers features like Pro mode, Live Focus, Panorama, Slow Motion, Hyperlase, AR emojis and some more. Samsung has also added an AI-based Smart Scene Optimization option. Recently, Samsung has started adding support for the highly efficient HEIF and HEVC formats, which can be enabled in the settings.

How does the Galaxy A50 camera work? Well, it managed to provide clear and bright images in daylight conditions. Like most Samsung cameras, the Galaxy A50 tends to keep the exposure higher so that photos look good without compromising shadows.
Details aren’t as sharp as the Note 7 Pro, but metering is more consistent, especially in difficult lighting.
Samsung has added a fun wide-angle camera that lets you fit a lot more into the frame, too. Images taken from the wide-angle lens don’t quite match the images from the main sensor, with a lot of distortion around the edges.
Unlike most phones in this budget, there’s no dedicated night mode. The Galaxy A50’s camera can take decent photos in low light, but it doesn’t hold up well on a large screen.
