Update Samsung A50 Charger Price Review

Update Samsung A50 Charger Price Review – We started the year with a bunch of affordable Samsung Galaxy M-series and A-series smartphones as part of the company’s strategy to compete with Xiaomi, Realme, and others. Samsung has addressed almost all strategic price points between Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 20,000 in a short period of time, sometimes with multiple options due to the number of models and variants presented. It’s been a while since that launch, and Samsung’s competitors have all updated their slates, so it’s inevitable we’ll see some updated models from the South Korean giant.

The new Samsung Galaxy A50s starts at Rs. 22,999, a slight increase in price compared to the Galaxy A50 (review). Shortly after the launch of the highly anticipated Redmi K20 (review), it joined the party and several other flagship phones saw price cuts to bring them into this segment as well. Which of these phones should you choose with a budget around Rs 10 Lakhs. 25,000? We reviewed the Samsung Galaxy A50s to find out.

As far as the look and feel of the Samsung Galaxy A50s goes, there is not much new. When we reviewed the Galaxy M20 (review), one of Samsung’s first aggressively pushed products, we commented on how ordinary it felt and how it was a departure from the company’s previous designs. Likewise, the Galaxy A50s could easily be mistaken for any of the many phones from today’s big brands, no matter which angle you look at it.

The front of the phone is almost all screen, with a small camera at the top (Samsung calls this design “Infini-U”). The edges of the screen are rounded and the chin is fairly thick, while the side and top bezels are narrower. The edges are slightly curved, which we noted with interest, and it is one of the few phones we have reviewed recently that does not have a plastic screen protector affixed to it, which we do not mind and even appreciate.

On the back, we have a personality that Samsung has decided to show – crossed in a geometric pattern that is not centered, with each section a different shade of color. There are three options: Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush White, and Prism Crush Violet—our review unit was the black version, but the back was colored in various shades of gray.

Thankfully, the design isn’t prone to smudges and fingerprints like the Galaxy A50’s glass, but it still needs a few wipes a day to keep it looking good. There’s still a very slight prismatic effect in some lighting, though it’s more subtle than the trippy reflections we saw on the phone’s predecessor.

There is a USB Type-C port on the bottom, along with a 3.5mm audio jack and a speaker. The tray on the left has two Nano-SIM card slots and a microSD card slot. Both the power key and the volume rocker are on the right side, and the top is empty.

Weighing in at 166 grams and only 7.7mm thick, the Galaxy A50s are very easy to handle and use. You might have to stretch a bit to get to the top of the 6.4-inch screen, but otherwise we have no complaints. Build quality is also very good, though the phone still feels plasticky and not very premium. There is also no mention of the type of glass used for the screen.

During our review period, we did not see stains or scratches on the frame or back panel, but we would use a phone with a plastic case. Fortunately, one is included in the retail box. Samsung also includes a 10W charger, USB Type-C cable, 3.5mm headphone jack, a SIM ejection tool, and a quick start guide.

The first thing you notice when you open this phone is the bright and clear Super AMOLED screen. It measures 6.4 inches, but if you measure with rounded corners, it will be cut to about 6.2 inches. Full HD + with a resolution of 1080×2340. There is a notch at the top for the front-facing camera, and the integrated fingerprint sensor is conveniently located.

Samsung uses its own octa-core Exynos 9611 processor, which appears to be a slight update to the Exynos 9610 found in the Galaxy A50. You get four 1.74GHz ARM Cortex-A53 cores and four 2.3GHz Cortex-A73 cores, along with Mali-G72 graphics. The chip has the same CPU, GPU, and LTE capabilities as its predecessor, but supports higher camera resolutions.

Which brings us to one of the phone’s big new features, its 48-megapixel f/2 primary rear camera. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel f/2.2 wide-angle camera and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera has also been improved to 32-megapixel resolution and f/2 aperture.

The phone comes in two models, but both come with 128GB of storage. The only difference is that you can get 4GB for Rs. 22, 999 or 6GB RAM for Rs. 24,999. This is similar to how Samsung offers the Galaxy A50, and we don’t see the need to have two options that are so similar. Unless you’re running a lot of heavy-duty apps and games, you’re unlikely to notice much of a difference.

The battery is fairly large at 4000mAh and can do 15W fast charging, although there is a 10W charger in the box. Dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5, GPS, NFC and FM radio are all included.

Our device came with version 1.5 of Samsung’s One UI software, running on Android 9 with the August 2019 security update installed. One UI is designed primarily for larger screen phones, and while it looks clean and modern, we’re not a fan of the oversized icons and wide spaces you see everywhere. Fortunately, you can adjust the size and density of the home screen and app drawer through the settings.

There is a lot of white space in the menus, and it feels like the big screen is not being used optimally, especially in the notification shade and application settings, which require a lot of scrolling. That said, the ability to drop menus and controls so that even the highest range is reached is very welcome. There are also many hidden features, such as Safe Folder, Samsung Pay, Kids Space, Night Mode, floating apps, and a Dual Messenger app script with a separate contact list.

A long press on the power button on the right now invokes the Bixby voice assistant. To turn off the phone, there’s a small power button on the screen in the quick flip area, which you can reveal by swiping down from the top of the screen. There’s also a Bixby home screen to the left of the first home screen, with useful panels like sports scores and reminders, and plenty of promotional content.

Bixby Routines allow you to chain multiple commands using simple “if…then” conditions. For example, you can tell the Galaxy A50s to change its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth status, sound profile, display customization, lock screen shortcuts, and accessibility settings, and you can have it perform specific actions, such as opening a website or sending. a text message. All of these can be triggered at once when you leave or enter a location, connect an accessory, open a specific application, answer a phone call, and/or pair with a specific Bluetooth device.

The Super AMOLED panel allows for ambient display, but by default the phone is set to require clicking to see the time and status icons when the phone is in standby. You can set it to remain visible all the time or only between specified times.

You can also control what is shown on the lock screen, and choose an animated photo or collection of images that will loop. Lock screen stories are pieces of content, some of which are ads, that appear every time you wake your phone from sleep. This can be disabled during the initial setup of Android.

Samsung has also decided to implement its Edge Panels feature, which we have only seen before on high-end phones with curved glass sides. This thin, visible tab can be located on either side of the screen, and you can slide across it to bring up one or more vertical strips that contain contacts or shortcuts to apps, widgets, or content feeds. You can download more edge panels from Samsung’s Galaxy Store.

There are only a handful of pre-installed apps: Facebook, Netflix, OneDrive, and the Galaxy Store and Samsung’s game launcher. When we put this phone in, we were told that if the apps weren’t used for three days or more, they would “go to sleep”, meaning they wouldn’t refresh their content and you might not receive some notifications. This can be disabled in the battery settings, but it is still worth noting that the default setting is strange and may cause some unexpected notification delays.

We are curious to see what Samsung changed with the Galaxy A50s compared to the Galaxy A50.
