Redmi Note 10 Pro Max Review: The Redmi Note series has evolved significantly over the past few years. With the Redmi Note 5, the company introduced the Pro version for the first time and added the Pro Max with the 9 series. The 10th edition of the Redmi Note series continues with this evolution, but the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max gets a significant upgrade.

The main reason you want to read this review is the camera. Yes, it has a 108MP camera, that’s the bottom line. The display has also now been upgraded to AMOLED type. The macro sensor has also been greatly improved, the phone has stereo speakers and water and dust resistance. But how does all this translate into day-to-day performance? Here is my review.
Because the camera is focused, the 108MP camera is excellent; No doubt it works well even in harsh lighting conditions. Do you really need to shoot every photo in 108MP mode? Maybe if you don’t want to zoom in on every aspect of an image and see the details.
For example, I took this painting at home and in 108MP mode. I can actually zoom in and list each person in great detail. This is not possible when the camera is shooting in native mode, which relies on 9-to-1 pixel binning. Still, images taken in both cases look good and have plenty of detail. Colors are oversaturated, but pleasing for the most part.
As noted in my first impressions; The macro camera is another winner here. I’ve found it works well, zooming in on leaves or flowers and capturing texture. For the price of this phone, the macro performance is exceptional. I also used the macro camera at night. Some of the results aren’t half bad. Even with internal lighting. Macro is great. You can record videos in SuperMacro mode; My main problem is the saturation level.

In night mode, the camera captures good detail and offers more than adequate performance. But when shooting in night mode you need to make sure there is some light source and your hand is really steady. I noticed some focus issues when shooting at night on the roof, but I expected the wind to be there because of the lighting. Yes, sometimes night mode makes colors look unnatural, but that’s the bane of most phones.
Portrait mode on the phone still sometimes struggles with edges. For example, when my 10-month-old portrait shots look great even when he’s standing still.
When it comes to video recording on the phone; That said, this aspect of the phone still needs improvement, especially when it comes to indoor video recording. Videos shot outdoors are of good quality and crisp.

I have a major problem on the video front with videos shot indoors. Too often, the colors are obviously wrong. Again, in some videos, my son was beaten and his skin was discolored. Even in his toy videos, the colors are too rich and some toys are red if they are orange.
There is also the problem of internal color saturation when taking photos and getting too close to the subject. This section may require software modifications. Not much, AI mode or HDR was not enabled when these videos were recorded.
The selfie camera is 16MP and can take good pictures. Yes, my skin looks a little smoother and my hair has never been so rich and dark. But most selfie buffs should be happy.
In general, my main feedback on the camera is yes. That’s pretty good, and the 108MP camera should prove useful in many situations. The macro is more than adequate and there are many features to make the most of the camera. However, colors are sometimes saturated and need to be toned down, especially in videos.

The phone has what Xiaomi calls ‘Evol’ design. It has a premium look and feel, though I like the minimal Redmi branding on the back. A major drawback is how isolated it is from the camera. The end result is that the device never sits on its back. Once or twice I almost fell off my desk at home from work. Adding smoothness gives a glossy finish all around. Yes the device looks premium, but get a case immediately to avoid possible damage.
Despite the 5020 mAh battery, the device maintains a slim profile. The display has a 6.67-inch Full HD+ resolution and is an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. A 60 Hz refresh rate is sufficient unless you are a particularly obsessive person. In fact, later I just switched to a higher refresh rate. Whether in light or dark conditions. The display works well. Even in bright sunlight once you can see it, you should have no problem using it.
The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G processor with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. I have 6 + 128 versions to review. It also has two separate SIM slots and a separate microSD slot. In my week of use, the performance of the phone is not a problem at all. Dead Impact Asphalt 9: Legends, Mars I played games like Alto’s Adventure and the phone handled everything with ease. For asphalt and dead impact; I changed the maximum display settings and games were fine.

The phone runs on Android 11 based on MIUI 12. The good news is that MIUI 12.5 users will have the option to install pre-loaded apps from Xiaomi as well. Some users will like it. This will definitely put more options in the hands of the users. It is good to see.
The sound quality on the device is impressive for the most part. Whether you’re watching shows on Netflix or playing a Spotify playlist, the phone’s sound is loud and satisfying even at half volume levels.
The battery of Redmi Note 10 Pro Max is 5020 mAh and it lasts more than a day with heavy to medium usage. We saw it go from 20 to 100 percent in an hour with the in-box 33W charger.

If you think it’s time to ditch your Redmi Note 9 Pro Max or the more modestly designed Redmi Note 9, hold on. In fact, someone is using a Redmi Note 9 at my house and it’s still working fine with the 48MP camera. For Note 9 Pro Max users, this phone is a great device.
If you are on an older device like Note 8 or Note 7 series. This is a good time to update. For those who are in the market for a new phone under Rs 20,000 and want high quality features, this phone will definitely not disappoint.
If your budget is around Rs.16,000. You’d be wiser to get the Pro version, which has the same processor and battery and display, with a 64MP camera. There is no need to stretch your budget to get a high-end camera. But for those with a flexible budget, this is one of the best phones available at this price.
