The phone has a dated notch on the front, but the bezels are the smallest I’ve seen in this price range. On the top edge is an IR blaster that helps control home appliances like TVs and ACs. This feature isn’t given much weight, but it’s useful for a lot more than you might think. Two other design features that I like are on the bottom edge, the first is the Type-C port and the second is the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Switching between apps and tabs doesn’t freeze the phone often, and most apps and tabs were open during testing. It only took a few apps and tabs to reload as the system killed them.

The MediaTek Helio G80 is a gaming-focused processor, a feature that the Redmi 9 Prime delivers. Gaming on the device was pretty good considering the price. I didn’t notice any lag while playing PUBG Mobile or Call of Duty: Mobile at high graphics settings. Both are CPU-intensive games that many phones in this price range experience stuttering or lagging.
Priced at Rs 9,999, the entry-level variant of the device goes up against the likes of the Realme C3, which has better camera hardware. However, the high-end variant goes up against devices like the Realme Narzo 10, which has a 48MP quad-camera setup. So the Redmi 9 Prime is slightly behind on the spec sheet.

In good light, the Redmi 9 Prime took decent shots with good detail and just the right amount of exposure. However, the AI ​​processing boosted the colors a bit, making the images stand out. This is good for people who want to post these pictures on social media platforms like Instagram. However, if you want to shoot in natural colors, this may not be the right choice.

Having a large battery is useful when using the device. But charging with the included 10W charger is another matter. The device took about three hours to fully charge. Many will not want to wait that long. However, this problem can be solved as you can buy an 18W fast charger that will speed up the process.
Firstly, the device feels a bit thick and heavy due to the 5,020mAh battery. This is not one of the factors to look for in a smartphone. The performance of the device is quite impressive, but be aware that the device starts to heat up after a few rounds of gameplay. And after about an hour of intense play, it becomes a bit uncomfortable to hold in your hands.
MIUI 11 is not my cake because it looks too cluttered without an app drawer. It’s too animated for my taste. However, most of my UI design issues have been resolved with MIUI 12, which this phone will receive in a future update. The UI also has a lot of bloatware like GetApps, Zili, Rummy King, ShareMe, etc.
