Update Redmi 9 Model Review

Update Redmi 9 Model Review – Redmi 9 Prime Review: Redmi 9 Prime is one of the best phones in the price range. But has Xiaomi cut too many corners to pull it off? Find out here.

Redmi 9 Prime marks the return of Xiaomi’s Prime suffix. The company’s rationale is that it has made a phone that offers a lot of features at a low price of Rs 10,000, and this justifies the Prime brand. But despite a phone packed with high-quality components, should Xiaomi turn around?

The Redmi 9 Prime has a plastic build that you will find in this price bracket. And for some, it’s a great choice of materials, considering the device can take a beating without worrying about a cracked back glass. The back has been given a textured finish for a slightly premium feel in the hand.

The camera module looks unique, with a triple camera array and a capacitive fingerprint sensor in one module and a separate module for the fourth camera sensor and LED flash. All these sensors are inside a circular ring similar to the Poco X2. Apart from the textured back and the camera module, the phone has very little visible from the back.

The phone has a dated notch on the front, but the bezels are the smallest I’ve seen in this price range. On the top edge is an IR blaster that helps control home appliances like TVs and ACs. This feature isn’t given much weight, but it’s useful for a lot more than you might think. Two other design features that I like are on the bottom edge, the first is the Type-C port and the second is the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Finally, the phone is offered in Matte Black, Mint Green, Space Blue and Sunrise Flare color options. I had the Sunrise Flare variant for review, but I would have preferred any of the Matte Black, Mint Green or Space Blue variants instead.

The display is another major factor that drives people towards the Redmi 9 Prime as it is one of the few devices in this price range to feature a Full HD+ display. Apart from this, there is Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the top of the device.

The 6.53-inch screen is large enough to view any content and bright enough for most scenes. However, sometimes in direct sunlight, the backlight of the screen doesn’t seem bright enough, so cover it with your hand to read. The touch response speed is quite fast, so you can easily navigate the user interface.

There is a capacitive fingerprint sensor on the back of the device, which is fast and quite accurate. I never faced any issues with the fingerprint sensor while using the phone.

Face unlock is also very fast and doesn’t open with your eyes closed. However, the device uses 2D data to enable this feature. This means that during registration, the device captures your photo and compares it to your current face. It is a bit insecure compared to other unlocking options.

Redmi 9 Prime is a good phone for light multitasking and daily tasks like making calls, browsing the web, checking your social media handles, playing casual games, etc.

In the multitasking test, the device performed fairly well without any hiccups, with 14 apps open at once and 27 tabs open in Chrome. Switching between apps and tabs doesn’t freeze the phone often, and most apps and tabs were open during testing. It only took a few apps and tabs to reload as the system killed them.

Redmi 9 Review: Great Value Or Just Cheap? (uk Sales!)

The MediaTek Helio G80 is a gaming-focused processor, a feature that the Redmi 9 Prime delivers. Gaming on the device was pretty good considering the price. I didn’t notice any lag while playing PUBG Mobile or Call of Duty: Mobile at high graphics settings. Both are CPU-intensive games that many phones in this price range experience stuttering or lagging.

Priced at Rs 9,999, the entry-level variant of the device goes up against the likes of the Realme C3, which has better camera hardware. However, the high-end variant goes up against devices like the Realme Narzo 10, which has a 48MP quad-camera setup. So the Redmi 9 Prime is slightly behind on the spec sheet.

Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime Review, Pros And Cons

In good light, the Redmi 9 Prime took decent shots with good detail and just the right amount of exposure. However, the AI processing boosted the colors a bit, making the images stand out. This is good for people who want to post these pictures on social media platforms like Instagram. However, if you want to shoot in natural colors, this may not be the right choice.

The wide-angle camera takes decent shots, but lacks a bit of detail. The macro camera is capable of taking good photos that look sharp. However, if your hands are shaking, the output may be a bit blurry.

With a 5,020mAh battery, the Redmi 9 Prime can easily last more than a day with heavy usage. I had to play several light and heavy games, surf the web, check social networks, follow the news and make several calls in a day.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Review: Another Budget Superstar From Xiaomi

The device feels a bit thick and heavy due to the 5,020mAh battery. (Express Photo by Karanveer Singh Arora)

Having a large battery is useful when using the device. But charging with the included 10W charger is another matter. The device took about three hours to fully charge. Many will not want to wait that long. However, this problem can be solved as you can buy an 18W fast charger that will speed up the process.

Firstly, the device feels a bit thick and heavy due to the 5,020mAh battery. This is not one of the factors to look for in a smartphone. The performance of the device is quite impressive, but be aware that the device starts to heat up after a few rounds of gameplay. And after about an hour of intense play, it becomes a bit uncomfortable to hold in your hands.

MIUI 11 is not my cake because it looks too cluttered without an app drawer. It’s too animated for my taste. However, most of my UI design issues have been resolved with MIUI 12, which this phone will receive in a future update. The UI also has a lot of bloatware like GetApps, Zili, Rummy King, ShareMe, etc.

As with any budget smartphone, low-light imaging isn’t that great. The device is able to take shots with some details (more so when the night mode is on). However, some grain does manage to creep in, and photos can become a bit pixelated when zoomed in a bit.

Who should buy it and why? If you want to buy a phone under Rs 10,000 then this is a great option. (Express Photo by Karanveer Singh Arora)

If you have a budget of Rs 9,999 and are looking for a good phone that will serve you well, this is one of the obvious choices. But at Rs 11,999, the competition gets tough and the device becomes a contender rather than a flagship. So if you want to buy a phone under Rs 10,000 then this is a great option. But at Rs 11,999, I think you should first look at devices like the Redmi Note 9 and
