Update Redmi 9 Cm Review

Update Redmi 9 Cm Review – Xiaomi’s affordable Redmi phones that cater to the Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 segment in India are compelling options and are usually worth their asking prices. The brand launched the Redmi Note 9 Pro ( review ) and Note 9 Pro Max earlier this year, with powerful processors and cameras starting at Rs 12,999. However, the increase in GST rates forced the company to increase the prices of these phones Fortunately, we now have the Redmi Note 9, which takes care of the Rs 10,000 to 15,000 segment.

Redmi Note 9 launched in India starting at Rs 11,999. The third and cheapest phone in the Note series thanks to its slightly downgraded specifications. Still, the Redmi Note 9 packs powerful hardware such as a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, 48MP quad camera and a large 5,020mAh battery with fast charging support. We review the Redmi Note 9 to see if it’s the best phone under Rs 15,000.

The Redmi Note 9 comes with a familiar design and doesn’t offer a premium look and feel like the Redmi Note 9 Pro. That said, the phone offers powerful hardware and long-lasting battery life with fast charging support, making it a pretty affordable device overall.

The Redmi Note 9 comes with a plastic unibody back panel that curves towards the front to meet the Gorilla Glass 5 on the fascia. The phone comes in Pebble Grey, Arctic White and Aqua Green colors and the latter option was available for review. The Aqua Green color has a cloudy finish rather than a glossy or reflective finish. It will pick up smudges and scratches along the way. Fortunately, you get a silicone case in the box to protect the phone from this.

The fingerprint sensor is placed just below the square-shaped camera module. We feel that the module could have been deeper to locate the sensor easily as our finger touched the camera module more often. The phone comes with a triple card slot for two nano-SIM cards and a microSD card. The device also gets a Type-C port at the bottom with a headphone jack and speaker grill on either side.

Coming to the front, we see a 6.53-inch FHD+ DotDisplay, which means the phone gets a punch hole for the selfie camera in the top left corner. The display offers good brightness levels, so you won’t struggle to see it outdoors under bright sunlight. It offers punchy and saturated colors and enough clarity to make videos look good. The phone meets the Widevine L1 standard, which means you’ll be able to stream content on Netflix and Prime Video in full HD resolution.

In terms of cameras, you will get a 48MP quad camera setup on the Redmi Note 9 The system has a 48MP f/1.8 CMOS sensor, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. It’s a pretty good camera setup for the price as the main camera delivers crisp and bright photos with rich colors and details in daylight. Wide angle photos show slight color shift, but still look usable in daylight. The macro lens can get as close as 2cm to a subject, resulting in some nice macro shots in daylight, but we did see a shift in color temperature compared to regular close-up shots. Portrait mode can take crisp bokeh shots of subjects in daylight, but overexposes the background. Night photography is about average with Night Mode doing little to improve things.

Redmi Note 9 is powered by MediaTek Helio G85 chipset and up to 6GB of RAM. It’s a gaming-oriented SoC similar to the Helio G80 chipset, but it offers a slightly faster GPU frequency at 1GHz. The Redmi Note 9 performs well in daily use and we didn’t notice much lag or app crashes. The phone is capable of running PUBG in HD+ high graphics, which is pretty good for its price. During a 30-minute session, the game initially ran smoothly, but we started to notice lag and stuttering towards the second half of gameplay. The phone got a little warm, but never terribly hot.

On the software side, the Redmi Note 9 runs Android 10 with MIUI 11.0.3. The phone was on the June security patch and had not received the July patch at the time of review. The software comes with a handful of preloaded Xiaomi apps like Mi Credit, Mi Pay and other third-party apps and games like LinkedIn, Amazon, Facebook, Crazy Juicer etc. MIUI will show ads in places, some that can be disabled and some that you just have to live with Finally, you have an option to enable the app drawer via settings. MIUI 11 brings dark mode, loads of downloadable wallpapers and themes to choose from and more.

The Redmi Note 9 has a 5,020mAh battery, which should easily get you through a day and a half with normal usage that includes some gaming, video streaming, messaging and social media browsing. In our PCMark battery test, the phone lasted 13 hours and 33 minutes, which isn’t the best time we’ve seen in this category, but it’s still pretty good.

Interestingly, while the phone supports 22.5W fast charging, Xiaomi has limited the speed to 18W. So even though you get a 22.5W charger in the box, it will only juice the phone at 18W and it takes around two and a half hours to fully charge the device. Xiaomi says it will push an OTA update in the future that will enable 22.5W charging, further reducing charging time.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 4g Specs, Review, Release Date

Redmi Note 9 has a reasonable starting price of Rs 11,999. At this price, you get a phone that offers long-lasting battery life and an attractive FHD+ display and a decent gaming processor. However, the phone looks underwhelming when you look at the Rs 13,499 and Rs 14,999 price variants. At these prices, we think the Redmi Note 9 Pro is a better option as it offers a faster Snapdragon 720G chipset, better cameras and a More premium design. Another phone worth checking out under Rs 15,000 is the Realme 6i, which gets a smooth 90Hz display, powerful MediaTek Helio G90T SoC and 30W fast charging support. The Redmi Note 9 is a great addition to the Note family and is worth buying at a starting price of Rs 11,999, but there are better options available if one moves up the price school. The Redmi 9 Prime marks the return of the ‘Prime’ series after the Redmi Note Prime, Redmi 2 Prime and Redmi 3S Prime phones from several years ago. Why bring back the ‘chief’? Well, Xiaomi feels that the Prime series is a perfect middle ground between the entry-level Redmi phones and the Redmi Note series. This allowed the company to launch the Redmi 9 Prime at around Rs 10,000, leaving room for a more affordable Redmi 9 in the future.

It will be interesting to see what the Redmi 9 will look like, if ever there is a Redmi 9 in India. Because the Redmi 9 Prime launched in the country is essentially a rebranded global variant of the Redmi 9. So it comes with the same plastic unibody finish, MediaTek Helio G80 chipset, quad camera 13MP, and FHD+ display. In our Redmi 9 Prime review, we find out whether these features make for an attractive sub-10,000 phone.

At a starting price of Rs 9,999, the Redmi 9 Prime is a strong contender for mobiles under Rs 10,000. It is one of the few phones that offers an FHD+ display at this price point. It is paired with a solid and reliable MediaTek Helio G80 SoC and a long battery life among other things.

Redmi Note 9 Pro Review With Pros And Cons

The Redmi 9 Prime doesn’t offer a super unique design, but the phone looks decent for its price. It has a plastic unibody at the back with a texture, which offers a good grip and makes it smudge free. The vertical camera module has a circular design around it that is somewhat similar to what we saw on the POCO X2, although it is much more subtle in terms of finish. At 198 grams, the phone is heavy and not the most comfortable for one-handed use.

The smartphone comes in four color options: Matte Black, Mint Green, Space Blue and Sunrise Flare. The last two colors have a gradient finish and look attractive. The fingerprint sensor is placed just below the camera in the same module. The Redmi 9 Prime comes with a Type-C port and a headphone jack at the bottom of the frame.

A big selling point
