While you have the option to mix and match various other components and cases on offer, computer vendor CyberPower has selected what it considers to be the best components to perfectly balance performance and price.

There’s no denying that the CyberPower Ultra 5 GTX gaming PC is a very capable gaming PC, but does it offer good value for the £725 price tag, or are you better off building the PC yourself?

On the top of the case, you’ll find two USB-A ports and a headphone jack, and on the back you’ll find 6 more USB-A ports and an Ethernet port, and on the GPU, an HDMI port and a port. Multiple display ports. It’s a little disappointing that there are no USB-C ports, as they’re becoming more and more popular, but it’s not surprising since this is a budget case.
The CyberPower Ultra 5 GTX gaming PC has a very wide range of components on offer. You can choose from eight AMD Ryzen processors and a full 18 graphics cards, with both Nvidia and AMD variants available. Of course, it’s basically impossible to check every single one of these settings, so this review will only focus on the Cyber Power setting.
With the AMD Ryzen 5 2500X providing the CPU power and the Gigabyte GTX 1660 6GB graphics card responsible for rendering the images, this CyberPower Desktop configuration is a mid-range gaming PC, prioritizing value for money over all. You won’t find fancy features like ray tracing or DLSS here, but you can expect decent Full HD performance.
The best thing about ordering through a retailer like Cyberpower is that it’s so easy to mix and match your ingredients. That said, there’s not much I’d change here, with the CyberPower somehow managing without 1TB of storage, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a high-powered cooling fan that dramatically increases the price.

While there are a few ports on the front, you have plenty of (mostly outdated) connectivity options on the back of the Ultra 5 GTX Gaming PC.
Writing a specific sheet doesn’t tell you the whole story. It’s the performance numbers that really matter, so we ran a number of benchmark tests to see just how powerful the CyberPower Ultra 5 GTX gaming PC really is.
Unfortunately, we’ve only recently reviewed high-end gaming desktops, so we don’t really have any computers on par with the CyberPower to compare to. Instead, we measured it against the Alienware Aurora R8 and MSI Trident X gaming desktops, which have RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 graphics cards, respectively. It’s certainly an unfair competition, with these two desktops costing almost £2000 more, but data like this should at least tell you how far CyberPower’s performance is from the best of the best.
Using an AMD Ryzen 5 2500X processor CyberPower UK compared the Alienware Aurora R8 against a much faster Intel Core i9-9900K, the latter always coming out on top in our CPU benchmark tests by a significant margin. This means the Aurora R8 is best suited for CPU-intensive titles like Warhammer 2 and Civilization 6, where enemy AI processes are complex and load times can be long. Although for RPG types and fast-paced battle royale shooters, you probably won’t notice much of a difference between the two engines.

The AMD Ryzen 5 2500X processor will be powerful enough to handle any game, processors rarely act as a hindrance these days. The graphics card is very important to consider because it has a big impact on the appearance and performance of the game.
Surprisingly, the Aurora R8 posted much better GPU benchmark results than CyberPower thanks to its RTX 2080 Ti graphics card. But the CyberPower 5868 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra result shouldn’t be overlooked, with the GTX 1660 GPU powerful enough to deliver Full HD performance that’s not far behind the MSI Trident X RTX 2080 card.
Truth be told, GPU benchmark tests tell you very little about the actual performance of the computer. In-game benchmark tests are the best way to measure real-time performance, so we tested several games including Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Ghost Recon Wildlands, and Rise of the Tomb Raider to see if CyberPower Desktop How does it work?
We chose Shadow of the Tomb Raider because it is one of the most GPU demanding games available right now. This has been proven with CyberPower struggling to deliver good frame rates when outputting at 4K or Quad HD resolution. However, Full HD is a different story, with a custom desktop clocking in at 58fps, which is just shy of the 60fps limit. This result may not be outstanding, but it is certainly high enough to deliver smooth graphics that will satisfy most gamers.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is another graphically intense title, but the CyberPower Ultra 5 GTX gaming PC pulls its weight here with frame rate records. When the game is set to Full HD, the desktop can run it at a very impressive 72 fps. Even the Quad HD rendering can be perfectly reproduced at 54 fps, although an average frame rate of 30 fps when set to 4K is probably too low for a satisfactory experience.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is significantly older than the other games here, but it was one of the GPU-demanding titles of 2015, so it’s a great benchmark to use if you want to know how well the system handles older titles. How to make it work.
You’ll be able to comfortably play Rise of the Tomb Raider in Quad HD and Full HD, seeing average frame rate performance of 52fps and 60fps respectively. Staying with the model, 4K performance isn’t up to scratch, clocking in at just 31 fps. The Alienware Aurora R8 manages an average of 63fps at 4K, but you’ll pay more for the privilege.
Overall, the results are quite bright, with the CyberPower Ultra 5 GTX gaming PC struggling to play games at 4K, but comfortably running modern AAA games at Full HD at 60fps. I also found the system capable of playing the best games at a respectable frame rate in Quad HD, though it’s probably best to stick to Full HD for the latest AAA titles. To get such performance at this price is fantastic and it has to be one of the best Full HD gaming desktop options out there.
