The Samsung Galaxy M line of phones is constantly changing and improving, more so than any other smartphone line in the company’s portfolio. And understandably so: the M series was designed to take on Samsung’s Chinese rivals in India’s budget segment, and like those Chinese rivals, the Korean giant needs to iterate and launch new phones to stay relevant.
Update Galaxy M31s Details Review

The latest phone offered by Samsung in the M series is the Galaxy M31s, which is the most expensive phone in the series so far. However, it also has some interesting new features that justify the higher price, such as the Infinity-O display and 25W super fast charging, all on top of what makes the Galaxy M31’s specs as good as the 64MP quad. camera settings and a 6,000 mAh battery.
Samsung Galaxy M31s Review: Undercutting The Galaxy A51, And How
In fact, the Galaxy M31s makes the Galaxy A51 completely redundant in the Indian market, and phones like the Galaxy A21 look awfully overpriced. But do the improved features on the Galaxy M31 contribute to a better user experience that you won’t regret? Let’s dive right into this Galaxy M31 review to find the answer.
Before I start, I should mention that this review will only focus on what’s new and different about the Galaxy M31s. For everything else, like performance and camera quality, be sure to check out our Galaxy M31 review.
The Galaxy M31s has the same ‘Glastic’ design as its sibling, but this time Samsung opted for a gradient finish on the back to set the phone apart. The Mirage Black version we received for review looks great, and with the bulkiness you’d expect from phones with a 6,000mAh battery, the plastic doesn’t feel cheap in the hand. The M31s uses essentially the same build materials and looks a lot like A-series phones like the Galaxy A51, which isn’t a bad thing if you don’t want to have glass on the back of all your phones.
The Galaxy M31s and A51 also have a 6.5-inch Infinity-O Super AMOLED display. Aside from the placement of the front camera notch, not much has changed on the practical side. You still get an amazing viewing experience with deep blacks, bright colors and wide viewing angles, and with a slightly higher maximum brightness than I could notice. However, the bezels are still quite large, especially at the bottom, and hopefully Samsung will address this with future entries in its budget and lower-mid ranges.
Samsung Galaxy M31s To Have Reverse Charging Feature? Details About Specs, Price And More
In addition to the Infinity-O display, the M series also got a side fingerprint sensor for the first time. I’m glad Samsung didn’t put an in-display fingerprint sensor on the M31s, because they’re nowhere near as fast, accurate, and reliable as physical scanners. And with the fingerprint reader mounted on the power button, it’s more convenient to use than rear fingerprint sensors. It’s a perfect implementation in my books and you’ll feel the same if you decide to buy this phone.
Although the M31s has a new 64MP main camera sensor compared to the M31, I didn’t really see any significant difference in image quality, so I recommend checking out our M31 review to see what you can expect from the photos it takes. However, this phone has two features that separate the M31 from the pack, one tech mode and a full Pro mode.
Single Take is a One UI 2.1 feature, so it should arrive on the Galaxy M31 and Galaxy M21 with the Android 11 update, but it’s only available on the M31 at the moment, and it’s the most thoughtful camera mod Samsung has in my opinion. conceived in recent memory. When you press the shutter button in Single Take mode, the camera takes multiple photos and videos, including photos with different filters and boomerang and hyperlapse videos.
This is great for situations where you don’t want to choose between taking photos and shooting video, like a birthday party or when your pet is doing something cute. Surprisingly, the M31s is very fast in processing all photos and videos shot in single shot mode. I expected the process to be slower due to the weaker processor, but it’s almost as fast as Samsung’s flagship phones.

As for the Pro mode, the Galaxy M31s lets you control the camera’s shutter speed, something Samsung has only just started offering on its affordable phones. Basically, if the auto shooting mode isn’t working for you, you can now take matters into your own hands. Full Pro mode is especially useful for low-light shots. Night mode is great for getting high-quality night photos automatically, but you can get better results by controlling your camera’s shutter speed and ISO.
Below is a side-by-side comparison of a scene I captured using Night mode (right shot) and Pro mode (left shot). I had to put the phone on a surface to make sure the Pro mode photo wasn’t blurry, but using my own shutter speed and ISO I was able to get a photo with a little more light and a little less noise. It’s also worth noting that Night mode crops out parts of the image, so another reason to try Pro mode at night so you can capture the whole scene.
For ultra-wide photos, the M31s has a 12MP camera, which is the highest-resolution ultra-wide camera of any M-series phone to date. The 12MP sensor allows for slightly higher detail in ultra-wide shots than Samsung’s previously used 8MP sensor, at least when zooming in. However, the depth, macro and selfie cameras remain the same as the M31, so again, if you want all the details and some camera samples, I suggest you check out our review of this phone.
The M31’s battery life is just as amazing as the M31 itself (about two days of light use and a full day of heavy use), but fast charging makes a huge difference. You no longer have to wait around two and a half hours for your phone to fully charge. This now happens in less than 100 minutes, and an hour of charging will comfortably last you through the entire working day thanks to the large battery capacity. In case you were wondering, yes, you get a 25W charger in the box.
Samsung Galaxy M31s
The M31s runs Android 10 with One UI 2.1 out of the box. Well, it’s the original One UI 2.1, so you’ll miss out on some features, but the important ones like Quick Share and Music Share are available on top of what you get on the M31. Quick Share lets you quickly share files over Wi-Fi with other Galaxy phones with One UI 2.1, while Music Share lets your friends and family play music on a Bluetooth audio device connected to your phone without having to connect to that Bluetooth device. themselves.
Unfortunately, even if you pay the high price, you still can’t use Samsung Pay and you won’t get Samsung Pay Mini either. Samsung also hasn’t removed the annoying notification that asks you to check for and install several third-party apps – even if you don’t install any, you have to go through the process of seeing them before the notification goes away. Yes, it’s a good way to compensate for the tight profit margins on Samsung’s M-series phones, but it’s not ideal for the M31’s asking price.
I don’t understand what Samsung is doing in India now. It pits the Galaxy A series against the Galaxy M series, with the latter coming out on top in every scenario. Along with the Galaxy M31s, Samsung is making the Galaxy A21s ( review ), Galaxy A31 ( review ) and Galaxy A51 ( review ) obsolete for Indian consumers, at least if you want the most bang for your buck.
The Galaxy M31 was already fantastic value for money, and the M31s makes things even better by offering a large battery support for 25W super fast charging, a versatile camera setup with a neat single-shot mode, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. . The Infinity-O Super AMOLED display is also excellent, and while the camera quality isn’t that great at night, you can now get it with full Pro mode.
