Update Cheapest Samsung A12 Review – Now, I know we usually feature the most expensive ones here, but this time, we got our hands on one of the cheapest if not the cheapest new options from Samsung, the Galaxy A12.

It’s a full plastic build, but we think the blue color and textured back make it nice to hold. And again, one or two cool things here. We get dual sim support with a dedicated Micro SD card slot and headphone jack.

Just to keep your focus under control though, the back feels hollow and doesn’t shift in when we press on it.
Otherwise, for security, you get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that does a good job. The odd mistake or two is possible, but we found it to be fast and reliable.
And last, but not least, we have a bottom-firing speaker that is quieter, but also not too distracting when listening at high volume.
DisplayGood enoughThe display isn’t too bright for easy outdoor use, but it should do the job if you plan to check a quick message or two while walking the dog. At least it goes down a lot so you don’t accidentally go blind during the night.

The panel is not AMOLED so don’t expect amazing colors but the IPS technology it comes with prevents burn-in, is crack free and still produces colors that are perfect for the average person. Another thing we should note, you are not crazy high refresh rates here and your resolution 720×1600 pixels, but that is expected in this price.
The CIE 1931 xy color gamut chart represents the set (space) of colors that a display can reproduce, with the sRGB color space (the enlarged triangle) serving as a reference. The chart also provides an indication of the true color of the display. The small corners around the border of the triangle are the reference points for the different colors, while the small dots are the actual measurements. Ideally, each dot should be placed in its own corner. The ‘x:CIE31’ and ‘y:CIE31’ values in the table below the chart indicate the position of each measurement on the chart. ‘Y’ indicates the luminance (net) of each color measured, while ‘Target Y’ is the desired luminance for that color type. Finally, ‘ΔE 2000′ is the Delta E value of the measured color. Delta E values below 2 are good. These measurements are made using Portrait Displays’ CalMAN calibration software.
The Color accuracy chart gives an idea of how close the measured colors of the display are to their reference values. The first row contains the measured (actual) values, while the second row contains the reference (target) values. The closer the actual text is to the target audience, the better. The Grayscale accuracy table shows whether the display has a correct white balance (the balance between red, green and blue) at different levels of gray (from dark to bright). The Camera Works Only About The Camera Handles We Are Happy. Given enough sunlight, we were able to get some really nice shots with admirable humidity.
These photos don’t really count for us, but they are very spot-on for average use. We have no complaints here. And the HDR performance was really good. As the shadows were clearly visible even in sunny conditions, and the sky was rarely transparent.
You also get a second and Ultrawide camera here and it is not strong at all, but it will take some cool photos of your vacation.
Zooming is not something we recommend doing as there is no dedicated lens for this, but some shots come out well and the colors are good.

The subject comes out well pressed in most cases and the selfie camera is also good when given enough light.
Another complaint from us though. The night mode would have been a good thing to include here because it is very useful for some people and its absence hinders us in the shots we can take at night.
For example, you can’t see any faces here, so one of us had to go somewhere with more light.
And we also get a macro camera here, which we think is the best gimmick. It produces good colors and takes close-up shots, but it’s not very clear and we wish its budget went elsewhere.

The videos though are not extreme. You can film up to 1080p at 30fps. It’s not really amazing or anything, but the quality is perfect for some family videos or similar while on vacation. But one thing we have to say is that the microphone on this device has a hard time recording sounds when there is background noise, so keep that in mind if you plan to make a video in a crowded place or near a busy street. And you shouldn’t expect any way to stabilize the video here, which can be a big issue if you really plan to shoot while walking.
Well, let’s put it this way, it’s not winning races, but it’s not frustratingly slow or sloppy either.
The Galaxy A12 comes equipped with a budget Helio P35 SoC. It’s not really meant for gaming or anything like that so we struggled when we tried some Minecraft on it, but watching videos and browsing the web are other things you do easily. We mostly used Reddit and watched some YouTube and were able to move on, with a little nerve.
We also noticed that it doesn’t get too hot while playing Minecraft so it’s cool. No statement is required.

You will notice that the programs take a while to open, but once they do, they work very well. Having a slower processor also has the surprising benefit of consuming less power.
Battery How big is too big? The battery capacity that comes here is around 5000mAh. And this is just amazing. You can expect more than two days of use if you are not using the phone a lot. But then again, like any other device on the market, if you use it regularly, you’ll probably end up charging it in the same day. You get a fast charger in the box for free, but keep in mind that “fast” here is only 15 watts and it takes a few hours to fully charge this battery.
You get a funky blue design, a pretty good camera for those family vacations, good performance for everything except gaming, and a battery so big that the engineers could have given the phone some extra space on the back.
But we are not sure if this is a perfect tool for this price. He makes a sacrifice in his performance. For example, for the same price, you can get Oneplus Nord N100 and it comes with a powerful processor and a decent camera.

Or if you’re looking for something even more powerful, the Moto G Power has a snapdragon 662 that wipes the floor with the A12 for only 20 dollars.
So it’s a little bit down to your preferences and what exactly you want in a device. Usually, we tend to be impressed with what cheap smartphones can do today, but what about you?

Before anything else, let’s first take a look at the design of the A12. From the back, the A12 in its black color looks a little plain, with only the Samsung logo and the phone’s quad camera setup being noticeable. It’s not that it’s a bad phone though, it just doesn’t stand out in a crowd if you get it in black.
