Samsung has been pushing backlit LCD TVs with quantum dots for years. Ignoring organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology, the company now combines the two to create the stunning S95B TV. However, the use of quantum dots in OLED panels makes it difficult to judge what black levels are. At $2,999.99 for the 65-inch model we tested, it’s more expensive than the Editors’ award-winning LG C2 Evo OLED TV. Choice ($2,499.99 for the 65-inch model), which offers similar colors. Delivers the deep black levels we’ve come to expect from OLEDs.
As an OLED TV and flagship of the Samsung, the S95B is surprisingly and attractive. The thin black bezel (just a quarter-inch thick) forms an active bezel. And there is a thin gray metal band around the edge. A thin black metal band around the edge. A narrow stripe marks the bottom edge. while a small incision In the lower right corner are the TV’s microphone and infrared sensor, respectively. The S95B sits on a 14″ wide rectangular metal base, or you can mount it to a wall.

Samsung’s Tizen-based smart TV platform remains a major obstacle to a seamless user experience. The main point is in the design of the menu. that appears when you press the menu button You’ll have a hard time accessing settings. Even switching between inputs can feel slow and choppy, just an awkward experience compared to other major smart TV platforms.
That means it’s packed with features. Launches apps for major streaming services and supports Apple AirPlay 2 (but not Chromecast). The S95B’s remote microphone also enables hands-free voice control via Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Samsung’s Bixby.
The Samsung S95B is a 4K OLED TV with a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) in HDR10, HDR10+, and Hybrid Gamma Log (HLG). Even with Dolby Atmos support, Samsung is still avoiding compatibility. With Dolby Vision, the S95B has an ATSC 3.0 tuner for high definition and 4K TV broadcasts.

We tested the TV using the Klein K-80 bleacher (opens in a new window), the Murideo SIX-G signal generator (opens in a new window), and Portrait Displays’ Calman software (opens in a new window).
In fact, OLED TVs should have better contrast. “Endless” because this technology allows each pixel to turn on and off. Brighten or darken This results in excellent black levels. However, this is not the case with the S95B as it uses quantum dots to enhance colour. For the most part, the black level of the panel doesn’t look completely black for the most part. Although different parts of the screen will not emit any light in an isolated environment But the quantum dot layer also reacts to ambient light, such as reflections from other parts. of the screen or the glass part of the panel The dark parts of the screen also look very dark. But not quite as much as we’d expect from an OLED panel. However, we couldn’t measure the black level here. This is because technically it is completely black in the absence of light.
The chart above shows the gradation of the S95B, the SDR signal compared to the Rec.709 broadcast standard, and the HDR signal compared to the DCI-P3 digital cinema standard, either way, it’s as good as anything we’ve seen before. All SDRs are the same as HDR primary colors, with slight variations in cyan, magenta and yellow. but still very accurate Its color performance is very similar to the LG C2, with a slight hint of green foreshadowing the ideal saturation level and a slightly lower secondary color.
It looks great on the S95B in colors like green and aqua. It looks natural, versatile and alive. Minor details such as silk and bark are easy to see in bright scenes and shadows. while shadows will look dark enough for clear textures. It’s also incredibly bright for an OLED panel (with the highest brightness) compared to high-end LED TVs.
Lg C1 Oled Tv Review: Prepare To Be Blown Away
Look natural (not purple or undertones) Later, in a burning laboratory scene, The flames show several shades of yellow and orange. The TV will show the highlights of the lights and heal all surfaces. Shadow details are also evident in the dark areas of the frame.
It looks dark and still shows a lot of textures and shapes. High-contrast images are depicted in detail even with very bright white objects. Skin tones are also beautifully saturated, balanced and natural.
In terms of specs, the S95B should appeal to gamers. The 120Hz TV supports a wide range of refresh rates via AMD FreeSync Premium and also features an Auto Low Latency (ALLM) mode. It shows the current refresh rate and active VRR features. However, the LG C2 does not have Nvidia G-Sync compatibility mode (LG models also support FreeSync Premium).
Firstly, due to Samsung factory test conditions, I wasn’t able to measure our standard input lag with the HDFury Diva HDMI matrix (opens in a new window), but I measured the delay using Leo Bodnar’s video input lag test tool. 1080p (Opens in new window) In Game Mode, I recorded 9.4ms, which is below the 10m threshold the TV uses to declare itself on the best list for gaming.
Lg C1 Oled Review
After that test period conditions This allowed us to use our standard back-end test equipment, but this time I didn’t have direct access to the S95B as I wasn’t able to run the test the first time. So I remotely watched the testing by Samsung technicians, they completely simulated our testing methods using HDFury Diva.
