Update A30s Samsung Price Review – Samsung announced the new Galaxy A50s and Galaxy A30s smartphones on Thursday, but the company remained tight-lipped about pricing and availability. Thanks to Samsung’s German division, we finally have an idea of the prices of at least one of the two phones, the Galaxy A30s. This Samsung Galaxy A30 cousin has an HD+ display, an in-display fingerprint sensor, an undisclosed octa-core processor, a 4,000mAh battery, three rear cameras, and a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
The Samsung Galaxy A30s is priced at €279 (roughly Rs. 22,000) in Germany. It will be offered in three colors – Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush White and Prism Crush Green. It is not clear which stock variant of the Galaxy A30s the company is releasing in the country. The phone will go on sale in early September. There is no word yet on the availability or pricing of the Galaxy A30s in India.

The Samsung Galaxy A30s features a 6.4-inch HD+ (720 x 1560 pixels) Super AMOLED Infinity-V display with an in-display fingerprint sensor. It is powered by an unknown octa-core processor, which is believed to be the Exynos 7904, just like the Galaxy A30. There’s also up to 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB of built-in storage, and a microSD card slot (up to 512GB).

The Samsung Galaxy A30s shares DNA from its predecessor, the A30. At first glance, the phone appears to be no different from the Galaxy A30 or the co-announced Galaxy A50. The front of the phone also features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a green drop notch at the top and a chin at the bottom. Except at 720 x 1560 ppi, the phone’s 268 ppi screen is down from the 1080 x 2340 screen with 403 ppi on the predecessor A30.
On the bottom edge, you’ll find the same 3.5mm headphone jack arrangement, followed by a USB Type-C port and a speaker grill.
However, the back of the phone is completely designed with futuristic holographic effects and geometric patterns. The new A30 comes in four new colors; Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush White, Prism Crush Green and Prism Crush Violet. Also, the rear panel does not have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner like the old A30, as the new A30 now has an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric login and security.

Moving on to its iteration’s major upgrade and USP, the phone’s triple rear cameras. The Galaxy A30s has a 25MP + 8MP + 5MP camera combo on the back. The main 25-megapixel camera is capable of f/1.7 aperture and PDAF, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 5-megapixel sensor for depth-sensing and portrait shots. To whet your appetite for photography, the phone has introduced new smart camera tools such as intelligent flaw detector and scene optimizer.
And for selfie lovers, the A30s performs with the same 16-megapixel lens with F/2.0 aperture as the A30.
Instead of going forward, the Galaxy A30s takes a step back in performance and opts for a better chipset. The company could have opted for the latest mid-range SoC, but decided to go back to the nearly two-year-old Exynos 7885 chipset. Moving on to other hardware, the phone has two RAM options and three storage options; 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and a maximum of 6GB RAM with 128GB storage. The storage can be expanded up to 1 TB via a dedicated slot.

On the software front, the A30s runs OneUI-based Android 9.0 (Pie) with some bloatware pre-installed. There are no upgrades on the battery front, where the device is powered by the same 15W 4000mAh found in the A30, A50 and the new A50s.
The A30 was officially announced via the Samsung Korea News blog, and there’s no word on how much it will cost. However, seeing a few notable improvements over its elder sibling, the A30, we expected the Samsung Galaxy A30s (4/128GB) price in Nepal to be around NPR 28,000, but it seems that Samsung Nepal has risen above this rate. With the phone available for purchase from October 20, Samsung has priced the Galaxy A30s (4/128GB) in Nepal at Rs. 31,890, which is totally overpriced for what the device offers.
In fact, just because the A30s is relatively new doesn’t mean the phone is worth upgrading. The company’s flagship phones like the Galaxy M30s, Galaxy M40 and Galaxy A50 sell less than 30,000 units in Nepal.
