Update 75 4k Tv Deals Review

Update 75 4k Tv Deals Review – Mi QLED TV 75 is a remarkable achievement for Xiaomi. The brand once again democratized the TV market by drastically reducing the barrier to entry for QLED panels in the large-screen TV segment. The Mi QLED TV 75 delivers the goods if you want a really good screen to watch movies on. However, if gaming is a priority, the Mi QLED 75 wouldn’t be my first recommendation, both due to a number of connectivity issues and a lack of future proofing.

In recent years, Xiaomi has been working on transforming its image from a value player to a full-spectrum brand. Part of this transition included spinning off the Redmi brand into a separate entity to focus on more affordable smart devices across different product lines.

Clearly, the strategy is working for the brand as it becomes more ambitious with its broad portfolio. Along with the high-end Mi 11 series smartphones, Xiaomi recently launched the Mi QLED TV 75 for the Indian market. As the name suggests, the recently launched Redmi is a 75-inch TV that is a step up from the 65-inch TV. In addition to the obvious size difference, Xiaomi focuses on image quality with its QLED panel and, of course, value.

The Mi QLED TV 75 is a 4K TV that takes a value-oriented approach to large-screen displays. It is priced at Rs. 1,19,999 in India, it significantly undercuts other QLED sets, with the only price-wise competitors sticking to conventional LCD panels. The TV can be purchased via Mi.com and Flipkart and is available in Gray only. Xiaomi has not announced its global launch plans.

The feature set includes the most advanced codecs and formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR 10, HDR 10+. Built on top of Android TV with the Patchwall service on the side, it also offers access to a wide range of streaming services.

The Mi QLED TV 75 takes a lot of inspiration from the 55-inch model and looks suitably premium. It’s available in the wider scheme of widescreen TVs, but it’s still Xiaomi’s most premium TV. It is very clear that Xiaomi pays a lot of attention to details.

This starts with the overall display, where the bezels are correspondingly small. A dark silver panel runs across the screen with minimal markings. The unusual Mi logo sits front and center, while the ‘Made by Xiaomi’ logo is barely visible on the right side of the panel.

The main change this time is the TV stand. Gone are the side-mounted metal stands and the Mi TV 75 gets a powerful centralized metal stand that looks quite nice. The TV is VESA compatible, of course, and Xiaomi will mount it on the wall for free if you need the service.

The selection of ports is the same as we saw on the Mi Q1 55-inch and includes two HDMI 2.0 ports and one HDMI 2.1 port with eARC support. You’ll also find dual USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, an audio jack and an optical output. For older devices, Xiaomi has also included an RF port, so you should be able to connect an old set-top box or a retro console that goes all the way back to the Nintendo Entertainment System. Finally, you’ll also find a composite entry. It’s fair to say that the port selection is solid.

As for wireless connectivity, the TV is equipped with both Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi, and it’s all very good. I had no problems streaming high bitrate content from a local server and streaming services worked well in 4K. The connection was pretty good even when I was away from my Wi-Fi router.

Overall, the Mi QLED 75-inch is premium enough to stand out as a high-end product. It certainly doesn’t look as good as an equivalent product from Sony or LG, but I doubt consumers will find anything to complain about here.

The main distinguishing feature for Mi TV is the Patchwall interface. It’s not quite as flashy as the WebOS on, say, LG TVs, but it makes up for it with integration with a wide range of regional and international streaming services. More importantly, the TV picks up DTH or Direct to Home services and seamlessly integrates them into the interface.

What does this mean for consumers? Better recommendations for one. Universal Search works across 25 streaming services and can also connect to broadcast TV to collect recommendations and offers. If you are interested in broadcast TV, it all works well and is a good value add. Meanwhile, if you prefer the default interface like me, you can easily exit Android TV’s default interface with the click of a button. Anyway, the set also has built-in Chromecast functionality.

This is for good things. However, I ran into serious software optimization issues on the Mi QLED TV 75. There were more than a few times when the interface froze for a few seconds. The volume bar also freezes sometimes and there are times when the remote stops responding completely. I’m told most of these bugs are fixed with an upcoming update. However, there is no fixed timetable for when this update will be released.

Xiaomi threw a lot of technology into the panel here and it shows. The 4K 8-bit panel is compatible with HDR 10, HDR 10+, HLG and Dolby Vision. Peak brightness is rated at 1000 nits and 192 dimming zones allow for very effective backlight control. The Q in QLED comes from a quantum dot layer that helps improve contrast levels. Yes, the panel itself is capable of 120Hz – with a caveat.

Like many TVs, I wasn’t too impressed with the color calibration out of the box. However, spend a little time on the picture settings and you can get a lot more out of the TV. There are extensive picture adjustments and turning down the backlight level, sharpness and turning off a single MEMC can make a world of difference.

Contrast levels are excellent and black levels are particularly good thanks to the full blackout of the matrix. I’m addicted to OLED panels, but the Mi TV pulled its weight with gusto and I never felt lost while watching a movie like Hereditary.

On the gameplay side, I noticed some quirks. First, although the panel itself is rated at 120Hz, the TV cannot receive an external 120Hz signal in 4K because a decoder is used. This means that the next generation of consoles remains out of 120Hz support at 4K, making Xiaomi’s claims that this is a 120Hz TV rather unrealistic. Xiaomi claims the TV will support 1080p/120fps input via HDMI, but I couldn’t confirm this as the Mi QLED TV 75 completely refused to detect the PlayStation 5 during testing. Also, there is no support for variable refresh rate (VRR).

And before we get to the real problem here. Chalk it up to bandwidth issues or the aforementioned decoder, but I had serious problems connecting two HDMI devices to the TV. The PlayStation 5 has a known issue that can cause flickering on certain TVs, but reducing the bitrate fixes this in almost all cases – it certainly did on my old LG 4K set.

However, before it was detected every time, the only way out with the Mi QLED TV 75 was to either reduce the resolution of the PlayStation to 1080p or remove the Fire TV Stick, which was strangely on the other HDMI port. Removing the second flow bar fixed the problem. I have contacted Xiaomi regarding these issues. The company says it’s looking into it, but no resolution has been offered as of press time.

Xiaomi talked about the sound capabilities of its new TV. It has plenty of volume, offering just 30W of output power using two tweeters and four woofers. However, this volume doesn’t really translate into a well-separated soundstage. Although the drivers are scattered across the large size of the TV, I found myself constantly adjusting the volume to hear the dialogue.

The TV supports eARC over HDMI and can output Dolby Atmos audio to the receiver if you want to integrate it into a home theater system.

Xiaomi’s portfolio of TV and streaming devices has one remote control, and that’s exactly what you get here. It would be nice to see a more premium remote given the TV’s high-end positioning, but what’s here is functional.

There’s a navigation bar, direct shortcuts to Netflix and Prime Video, and buttons that drop you into the Patchwall or Android TV interface.
