The Galaxy S10 5G is the biggest, most advanced and most expensive smartphone in Samsung’s current lineup, and it doesn’t just claim to have 5G, it’s the best.

Unlike the OnePlus 7 Pro, which comes in 4G or 5G versions, which are similar in size, weight and features, the S10 5G is its own phone. It’s bigger, heavier, thicker and has more cameras and sensors on the back and front than the S10+.
The front is filled with a 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED screen that curves at the sides and has a large oval notch on the top right of the display for the dual selfie cameras and depth sensor.
The screen is truly stunning, as you’d expect from Samsung’s best smartphone: clear, bright and colorful with good viewing angles. It’s not as bright or smooth as the amazing 90Hz screen on the OnePlus 7 Pro, but it’s better than the rest.

The bigger screen means the S10 5G is a bigger phone. At 77.1mm wide and 162.6mm tall, the S10 5G compares favorably to 5G rivals like the OnePlus 7 Pro or the 4G-only iPhone XS Max. The Galaxy S10 5G has the same processor, storage and memory as the other Galaxy S10 variants and therefore performs similarly. In the US this means the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, but in the UK, Europe and many other regions it means Samsung’s own Exynos 9820 processor.
It’s a phone that feels fast, if not super fast, and can handle most things you throw at it. The 5G-powered gaming and augmented reality experience was smooth, but the phone did heat up a bit.

The Galaxy S10 5G runs on Samsung’s new One UI version of Android 9 Pie, like other S10 variants.
The UI is a big upgrade over previous versions of Samsung’s software, which was intended to make large-screen phones more user-friendly, and it comes in handy here. The top of the screen is usually used to display information, while the buttons you need to touch are moved to the bottom.

While more useful for the larger Galaxy S10+, the S10 typically uses the top half of the phone for viewing information and the bottom half for touch interactions. Competing systems from OnePlus, Huawei or even Google’s upcoming Android Q devices are much better.
