Reiff talks about the secrets behind the design of the new Force FX Elite Darksaber and why it will be a great addition to your collection. Here are five things we learned from the enlightening interview.
1. The glowing metal handle with a design inspired by the Darksaber as seen in The Mandalorian feels like you’re holding the real thing.
Like the other extraordinary lightsabers in the Force FX Elite line, the metal handle of the Darksaber has quite a lot of weight.
“The feel and weight of the metal handles is an important part of bringing as much authenticity as possible to the experience of the holder,” says Reiff. “We want these cutting-edge products to really help fans immerse themselves in the experience of wearing and using these iconic

,” says Rafe, “looking at these past performances allowed us to explore other aspects of the saber, including how it sounds and reacts differently than a traditional saber, so we can bring a full and accurate experience to this version.”
3. Darksaber’s distinctive flat blade and black and white color were a welcome addition to the experienced designer.
“The unique form factor of the Darksaber blade created some challenges in how to construct it and how to maximize the edge lighting and the type and placement of LEDs unique to this saber,” says Reif. “It was a fun process as we explored a number of construction methods and internal blade geometries to arrive at the design.”

“The new Darksaber hilt shape and the addition of so many white LEDs led us to another exciting new feature – the inclusion of a rechargeable battery!” says Rafe.
