I have a Lenovo Z50 machine with Windows 8.1 pre-installed. I booted Ubuntu 14.10 64-bit from a DVD using Windows’ “Change advanced boot options” (or similar) option to boot from the DVD. I then installed Ubuntu, completely replacing Windows. I have the following partitions:
Installation is perfect, but now I can’t access my BIOS. Googling the issue turned up answers dealing with dual boot scenarios, assuming the questioner had Windows installed alongside Ubuntu. Please help.

Anyway, I got the all important mx500 and decided to start riding carefully and nervously as I had never done anything like this before.
I got an ssd in the main memory slot and a hard drive in the bay and it threw the dvd. When I turn this mess on I get “no startup disk available” or something like that (my system is on a hard drive). So the ssd and switched hard drive location windows started normally but no ssd recognition.
Incompatible or damaged is definitely possible. Double check all connections/seats to make sure (we’ve had customers send in computers for simple things like this). Try listening to it too. If the mechanical drive is there and getting power, you should hear it. No noise = no electricity.
So….if the caddy breaks…and you put in an SSD and it’s not recognized…wouldn’t getting a new caddy solve the problem?

Assuming everything installed correctly, did you tell your computer to boot from the hard drive? It’s probably trying to boot from the new SSD that doesn’t have Windows (assuming you haven’t installed Windows on it).
What is a cable bridge? It looks like the pins are just glued to the circuit board, no damage.
Everything looks good and the caddy looks good it’s brand new I’m just guessing why the dvd drive is recognized in the bios but the caddied ssd is not recognized at all that’s the problem. It might be an incompatibility issue, I don’t know. It’s just speculation for now.
I’m listening to a DVD drive and a mechanical drive in the same slot. I’ve already taken it apart 3 or 4 times to make sure it’s not my fault. Someone told me this problem is common with Lenovo z51-70. Is true?

Auch wenn wen zum jetzigen Zeitung nicht alle im Shop geprüfte und mit einem IPS-Display angeboten Modelle geprüfte, so hat sich zufolge unserer Stichprobe aus dem Shop (80K6003QGE:offensichtlichtlichtlich furtünge 1920 x 1080″ um eine falsge Angabe handelt. Lenovo ist aufgeforder dies schnellstmöglich zu prüfen und richtig zu stellen, da der Hinweis IPS dem User Displayqualitäten verspricht die ein TN-Display nicht liefer.
