Jesus Christ Is Not God – If Jesus never called himself God, how did he? As Jesus Becomes God, Bart Ehrman explores how a Jewish preacher from Galilee was transformed into a deity. “Jesus himself did not call himself God, and he did not consider himself God,” Ehrman said.

Jesus Christ Is Not God
“If Jesus had not declared his followers to be God, his followers would have been a sect of Judaism, a small group of Jews,” said historian Bart Ehrman.
Knowing God Personally
When Bart Ehrman was a young evangelical Christian, he wanted to know how God became a man, but now, as an agnostic historian and early Christian, he wants to know how a man became God.
When did Jesus’ disciples start saying “Jesus is God” and what did they mean by that? His new book is called
“This book doesn’t really address the question of whether Jesus is God or whether he really rose from the dead,” Ehrman said.
Terry Gross. “I leave both questions open because they are theological questions based on religious beliefs and I am writing a historian’s book.”

A big difference between the first three gospels – Matthew, Mark and Luke – and the last gospel, John

While he lived, Jesus himself did not call himself God, nor did he consider himself God, and none of his disciples believed that he was God.
You find Jesus calling himself God in the Gospel of John, or the last Gospel. Jesus said things like, “Before I was Abraham, I am.” and, “I and the Father are one,” if you have seen me, you have seen the Father. All these words are the ones you only find in the Gospel of John, and that’s amazing because we have the early gospels, and we have the writings of Paul, none of them contain any indication that Jesus said such things. …
Oswald Chambers Quote: “jesus Christ Reveals, Not An Embarrassed God, Not A Confused God, Not A God Who Stands Apart From The Problems, But One …”
I think it is completely impossible for Matthew, Mark and Luke not to mention that Jesus called himself God if that is what he said about himself. That would be a very important point to make. This is not an uncommon view of scholars; is the view that the Gospel of John offers a theological understanding of Jesus that is not historically accurate.
The same time Christians were calling Jesus “God” is when the Romans started calling their emperors “God.” So these Christians did not do this in a vacuum; they were actually doing it in context. I don’t think it can be a coincidence that here the Queen is called “God”. So when you call Jesus “God” it was actually a competition between your God who is the king and our God Jesus.
When Constantine, the emperor, converted to Christianity, everything changed because now instead of the king being God, the king was the worshiper of God, Jesus. That was a powerful shift, and one could argue that it changed the understanding of religion and politics forever.
Christians faced difficulties as soon as they declared that Christ is God. If Christ is God and God the Father is God, doesn’t that make two gods? And when you cast out the Holy Spirit, doesn’t that make three gods? So Christians are not polytheists? The Christians wanted to insist, no, it is monotheism. Well, if they are monotheistic, how can they be all three Gods?
Trinity, Divinity Of Jesus
So there are different ways of trying to explain this, and one of the most popular ways… is called ‘modalism’. It is called modalism because it insisted that God had three forms – as I myself am at the same time son, and brother and father, but there is one of me – because these theologians say: This is how God is. He appears in three persons, but there is only one, so he is father, son, and spirit at the same time. So it is in three forms of existence, so there is only one of them.
I try to teach my students that history is not about the past. … There are many things in the past that we cannot reveal historically. For example…you just can’t show what my grandfather ate on March 23, 1956. I mean, he ate.
Lunch that day, I’m sure, but there’s no way we’re going to make it. So it’s in the past, but it’s not part of history. History is what we can prove happened in the past.
Historians act as historians, whether they are believers or non-believers, they act as historians, they cannot simply say that Jesus could have been raised by God from the dead.
Things The Bible Says About Living A Godly Life
Things that historians cannot prove happened in the past include something miraculous. Because to believe that a miracle happened, to believe that God did something in our world, it is necessary to believe in God. It requires theological belief, but historians do not need theological belief to do their work. …[Historians] do not declare it a miracle because it is beyond what historians can prove. Miracles may have happened in the past, but they are not part of history. So that applies to the resurrection of Jesus. Historians act as historians, whether they are believers or non-believers, they act as historians, they cannot simply say that Jesus could have been raised by God from the dead. But historians can look at other aspects of resurrection traditions and see if they endure, historically.

Was Jesus placed in a tomb and seen three days later? Well, that’s a historical question. And to answer it, you don’t need any religious belief; You can easily look at the sources and draw historical conclusions. …
The Bible Shows A Racist Character Of Jesus Who Was Not God But Was A Bigot “if Real”
Before I wrote this book and researched it, I was convinced, as many people think, that Jesus was well buried, and on the third day the women went to the tomb, found it empty, and that started by faith. the resurrection
Aside from the fact that I don’t believe that Jesus was given a perfect burial—that he was perhaps thrown into a mass grave of some kind—besides that, it struck me in my research that the New Testament never showed that. that people believed in the resurrection because of the empty tomb. This was a remarkable discovery because this is often said to be what led to belief in the resurrection.
But if you think about it for a second, it means that no one believes in the empty tomb. If you bury someone and come back three days later and the body is not in the grave, your first thought is not, “My God, he was exalted to heaven and made a son of God.” The first thought is, “Someone stole the body.” Or: “Someone moved the body.” Or, “Hey, I’m in the wrong grave.” Don’t you think he went up to heaven. In the New Testament it is notable that the gospels in the empty tomb cause confusion but not faith. What leads to believe is that some of Jesus’ disciples had dreams after him.
If Jesus did not declare himself the followers of God, his disciples would be a sect of Judaism, a small group of Jews, and if so, he would not attract many Gentiles. If they had not attracted a great number of nations, there would not have been this constant conversion to Christianity in the first three centuries; It would be a bit Jewish.
Was Jesus (as) Really The ‘son Of God’?
If Christianity had not been a minority in the Empire, the Roman Empire under Constantine would have been almost unchanged, but then there would not have been a large number of conversions after Constantine, and Christianity would not have been the state religion of Rome. If that didn’t happen, it would never have become the religious, cultural, political, social, and economic power it has become, so we wouldn’t even have the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Reformation, and the modern era as we know it. that is It all depends on the claim that the early Christians had that Jesus was God. IGLESIA NI CHRIST Denying the divinity of Jesus is nothing new under the sun. His opposition to the deity of Christ has long been refuted by the Church Fathers and theologians, both Catholic and Protestant, who have written numerous books since the Church of Christ declared this doctrine in 325 AD. As a Catholic, I was obliged
